Is there any problem if not upgrading the IDL lib file you mentioned? Yes, i use the CDAWlib.   Such problem only hapened when using the IDL for intel MAC. In IDL 6.3, it can not open a CDF file for the CDF version of 3.X, while in 6.4, the data read by the 'read_mycdf' and the 'loadcdf' is wrong . After upgrading the IDL lib, all is right.
