Title:Magnetic reconnection in the solar corona
Abstract: As one of the fundamental processes in plasma, magnetic reconnection is the most plausible mechanism responsible for powering the large-scale, eruptive phenomena in the solar atmosphere, such as flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). It has been suggested that solar eruptions sometimes proceed in a two-stage fashion. At first highly sheared fields reconnect to form a flux rope, and then its buoyant rising stretches the overlying, less-sheared fields to form a Y-type current sheet underneath, where reconnections help the flux rope to blow out. Here I present the direct observational verification of the reconnection structure and dynamics at each stage, i.e., tether-cutting reconnection in the first stage and Y-type current sheet in the second.
